Crokinole is a very skilful and interesting game that is usually played by 2 or 4 players, though 3, 6 or even 8 may play. Each player or team has 12 discs and the first to start will try and flick the disc into the centre hole and if successful the disc is removed from play and a score of 20 points is recorded.

If the centre hole is missed and if you are the player whose next turn it is, then you cannot aim for the centre hole, but instead must try and knock the opponents disc from the board and into the non scoring ditch.

Your disc is now likely resting in one of the 3 scoring segments of the board; the outer segment is worth 5, the middle 10 and the inner 15. Play continues in the same way and at the end of the round, the scores of all the discs that still remain on the board are totalled up.

The difference of the count between the 2 players or teams is the score for that round. A game is usually played to 100 or 200 points, whilst a match is the best of 3 games.
